Directions:
1. Using all available resources, identify a current media item which demonstrates a societal stigma toward mental illness, such as a television show, news segment or article. If using a video, it must be 30 seconds or less.
2. Link your selected media item and answer the questions in the space provided below.
3. Identify how the media item can be recreated to counter the stigma and promote accurate information on people with mental illness. Identify the necessary changes in the space provided below.
4. Once you have identified the necessary changes, recreate the item.
· If recreating a video, rewrite the script
5. Form groups based on your instructor’s directions.
6. Present your project by showing the initial and recreated media items.
7. As each individual in your group presents, provide them feedback by considering the following questions:
· Was the recreation successful, and why or why not
· Did the recreated media item promote accurate information about people with mental illness, and why or why not
· What is one strength and one area of improvement for the presentation
· What questions do you have after the presentation
8. Once completed, turn in your project according to your instructor’s directions.
