Goal:
To introduce how team and task management skills are used in marketing careers.
Description:
This lesson will demonstrate effective team and task management skills, such as creative thinking and problem-solving. It will include how to offer and accept feedback, cultural appreciation and multitasking skills.
Objectives:
1. To demonstrate professional behavior, etiquette and acceptance of feedback.
2. To respect the opinions, cultural diversity, customs and individual differences of others.
3. To implement critical thinking and decision-making skills in task management.
4. To utilize self-management, initiative, multitasking and team management techniques and organizational skills.

Essential Questions:
1. Why are collaboration and delegation essential for teamwork in marketing?
2. What is the feedback loop and why is it important?
3. What are some best practices for giving and receiving feedback?
4. What are examples of task and project management strategies and software?
Step 1: Bell Ringer:
· Have students consider when they were part of a team. Ask students to share with a partner an experience on the team which was positive and something which could have been improved upon.
Step 2: Distribute the Action Plan, Vocabulary Handout and Key Concepts.
· The Action Plan lays out a list of tasks for students to complete during the lesson.
· The Vocabulary Handout is a list of terms used throughout the lesson.
· The Key Concepts is an outline which identifies the main ideas presented in the lesson which students can fill in to aid in note taking during the lesson.
Step 3: Show the Managing Teams & Tasks in Marketing PowerPoint®.
· This lesson is 21 slides long.
· Be sure to utilize the Key Concepts for this segment of the lesson.
Step 4: Students should complete the Create a Feedback Loop Activity.
· Students will create feedback loop examples and give suggestions on how to improve communication.
Step 5: Exit Ticket:
· Have students write the answer to one of the Essential Questions and turn the answer in before leaving class.

Step 1: Bell Ringer:
· Allow students to study their notes to prepare for the assessment.
Step 2: Administer the Managing Teams & Tasks in Marketing Assessment.
· The assessment is a comprehensive assessment covering material throughout the entire lesson.
Step 3: Students should complete the Break It Down & Plan It Out Project.
· Students will prioritize project tasks to create a timeline and organize the workflow.
· The Break It Down & Plan It Out Student Handout should be utilized for this project.
Step 4: Exit Ticket:
· Have students turn in the completed project.
Activity Overview
Create a Feedback Loop
Students will create feedback loop examples and give suggestions on how to improve communication. The activity includes examples of positive and negative feedback.
Accommodations:
Create a class list of scenarios which would require feedback for students to choose from.
Modifications:
Provide students with templates such as an email, conversation or letter template to write their feedback.
Extension:
Have students present the feedback they corrected. Be sure the presentation includes what could be improved and why the changes are necessary.
Project Overview
Break It Down & Plan It Out
Students will prioritize project tasks to create a timeline and organize the workflow. The Break It Down & Plan It Out Student Handout provides a list of the tasks which should be completed in the timeline.
Accommodations:
Allow students to work with a partner to complete the activity.
Modifications:
Provide students with an example of a task board to use as a template.
Extension:
Have students create an additional subtask for each main task listed.
