Debating AFIS
Project Overview:
You will research and decide whether or not everyone should be required to submit their fingerprints to AFIS. You will then share your findings in a two-to three-page essay.
Directions:
1. Using available resources, research information to determine whether or not you believe everyone should be required to submit their fingerprints to AFIS.
2. Write a two to three-page researched opinion essay of your findings. Your essay should include the following information:
· The history of AFIS
· An explanation of how AFIS works
· A description of how AFIS has changed criminal investigations
· An explanation of your opinion, providing evidence
· An explanation of the opposing opinion, providing evidence to disprove opposing viewpoints
· Which stance you agree with more and why
3. Attach a citation sheet listing all sources used.
4. Be prepared to participate in a class discussion to share your thoughts.
5. Once complete, submit your project according to your instructor’s directions.
