Robotic Arm Components Poster
Project Overview:
You will create a poster to highlight different components and subsystems of a robot arm and explain how the robot arm is manipulated by a computer or controller.
Directions:
1. Use all available resources to identify a robot arm system of interest to you. Consider robot arms on deepwater robots, Mars rovers or six-axis robot arms. Ensure the identified arm has sufficient information about its various subsystems.
2. In the space below, take notes on the following information. Be sure to cite your sources.
· General information about the robot arm, such as:
- who made it
- purpose
- general specifications
· Robot arm structure, joints and degrees of freedom
· Actuators used to articulate the joints
· End effector purpose and design
· Internal and external sensors used
· Power supply used
· Use of feedback or control loops
· Computer control method and how subsystems interact
3. Develop a rough draft of a poster to present the information from your research. This can be done on a piece of paper, a computer mockup or using a pencil on the poster itself. Be sure to consider the layout of both graphics and text to make the poster visually appealing.
4. Find a partner and swap rough drafts.
5. Evaluate your partner’s rough draft to ensure the content is clear and the appearance of the poster is visually appealing.
6. Write a minimum of three sentences of feedback to provide for your partner.
7. Review your partner’s feedback and make any necessary revisions to your poster draft.
8. Create the final draft of your poster.
9. Once completed, turn in your project according to your instructor’s directions.
