·      Organize files into folders based on their file type

−     use at least three folders

·      Carefully watch and listen to the video and audio files and decide how best to edit these into a four- to five-minute production

3.    Consider the production’s purpose and focus and draft ideas on using graphics to enhance the message and increase its impact.

4.    Open the video editing program of choice and begin editing by:

·      Importing and organizing the files in the project file panel

·      Sequencing the narration clips

·      Selecting b-roll footage which corresponds to the narration

·      Synchronizing the video files to match the narration

5.    Design and incorporate graphics within the timeline, considering how the following may be used to enhance the production:

·      Ensure graphic file types are compatible with the production, such as JPEG, PNG or PSD

·      Include at least two lower-thirds graphics, accurately positioned and styled

·      Ensure text legibility and appropriateness for the production’s theme

·      Use a color palette which complements the content and adheres to professional standards

·      Ensure all text and graphics are within the title-safe boundaries

·      Additional graphic elements should be placed to enhance storytelling while avoiding clutter

6.    Continue to edit the video, using the information provided in class and conducting additional research as needed. Make appropriate use of the following tools and strategies:

·      Cutting, splicing and arranging clips

·      Using audio effects such as J cuts and L cuts, enhancements, mixing and equalization

·      Incorporating video effects such as enhancements and color correction

·      Inserting audio and video transitions such as wipe, fade or dissolve

·      Layering graphics over video appropriately

·      Implementing graphics to emphasize and enhance the production
